freesparrow: They can be works of arts...expressing each person's individuality...the lights sparkling, the decorations colorful...type of folk art...to be enjoyed. Mine is artificial..a personal decision to save trees. Of course some day it will become a trash pollutant, but I do hope to keep it for many many years.
I agree, a well decorated tree can be a pleasing sight to see and it does make the house smell nice. An artificial tree makes a lot more sense especially for the fact that you can reuse it over and over again. Around here Christmas trees go to the recycling centers and then a huge rotary chipper makes the rounds and all the trees are turned into mulch which is sold back to the public.------ This thread is Archived ------

I have had a real tree in my house for the past few years and it was lovely. But this year I decided on an artificial one, partly because I needed a smaller one and partly because it makes more sense, both financially and ecologically.
But I also have had the problem of the cat climbing it and picking off the silver baubles and playing with them. I found about ten of them under the sofa.

I always hated them growing up, but they really show off the decorations so going to use them. This year though I had a little Charlie Brown Tree that I bought after Christmas last year. We just decided to put that one up on the coffee table and it was great!! Loved it!!
