shyjim: Thats true my Cousins had one when i was a kid growing up.His name was Mitch. He died when I was 17 and I still miss him to this day.
pedigrees are living longer these days as breeders have started to realise its not all about looks and that theres more to it then that. iv got a springer who was diagnosed with heart failure in may2009 and given 6 months to live, shes 14 in 10 days time and not on any medication at all anymore. there doesnt seem to be as many breed related problems as there used to but that is partly down to the designer dog phenomemen with the cavichons and puggles and such which silly people pay stupid money for crossbreeds that they have no idea how they will turn out mumbling

My Goodness Salanky, She is a great age for her breed. You are right that the cross breeding of dogs causes it's own problems.

thanks, shes a great dog to be fair to her and her daughter is very like her. obviously all cross breeds are an unknown quantity and you have no way to know how they are going to turn out both in size and temperament. the thing that gets me is when people give them a name and say its this new fancy breed, people pay 100s for them when there are so many unwanted dogs in the country already mumbling

salanky: didnt spend anything, perks of the job

so you robbed the medication to save your dog?
Mar 11, 2012 11:04 AM CST Crufts 2012
salanky: yeah just went to the drugs press and took it i paid for everything but her medication so that was all the xrays and different tests that were needed to diagnose the condition. shes now off the medication nearly a year and is doing remarkably well for a dog with her condition (touchwood)

you'd be better off to kill the dog rather than prolong its life in pain...poor thing 14 year old dog...it must be lame at this stagesad flower

salanky: if she was in pain at any stage i wouldnt think twice about getting her put down, shes not lame and has no signs of arthritis or any other conditions that would result in her being in pain. her hearing is going slightly but she is still a very happy dog and has health checks every three months. the vets do be in shock that a near 14 year old dog is in such good condition

you must have her serviced every few thousand miles..thats why shes so freshireland
