My question is, a friend of mine is on a dating site, she contacted a man and began phone calls etc. She was dropped like a rotten orange and thinks he may have taken her name and birthdate and ran a criminal background check. This girl is a sweetheart, but back in the 80's got a little crazy and whatnot. Has anybody (male or female) ever done this? Sounds absurd to me, my not just be truthful or ask that person? So what's your take on this?

that's a stretch....he probably just met someone else or he was married and misbehaving and his wife or girlfriend caught him (most likely scenario) hopefully she wasn't into him except just as a friend

It's something I've never done. I think if I was that unsure of someone, I just wouldn't date him. I have no criminal record myself, far from it, and I wouldn't mind if someone did a check on me in that sense, but I think I'd be uncomfortable with the mindset of someone who felt the need to do one.
