ellimere: its nothing to do with a difference of opinion , the way i was spoken to was unreal !! the poster who was going on about hitting dogs and their owners was a different one from the person mentioned
That thread is way too long for me to looking through, but I know that some posters post comments in jest just to get a reaction, others feel strongly about their viewpoint and will argue it. My rationale is if you don't like what is being said, or who is saying it, walk away.....as you would in real life

Personally, I think that's a crappy way to look at this. It gives the impression that this is all something like a video game, and that the people on the other end don't really matter, as if they weren't real human beings.

Not at all, but there will always be differences of opinions, and that should be respected, it's a public forum and open for all to air their views.
True, it should never get personal, or bigoted, but in my experience most claims of "bullying" or "disrespect" are blown out of all proportion
If I'm in a discussion with someone in real life, among a group of people, and I don't like the tone of the discussion, I remove myself from it.....I don't cry about it and say "He/She is picking on me", but that's just me, each to their own

elli I wouldn't let any one person make me feel like that, you have to have a very thick skin on here sometimes, but you either walk away from the thread or fight you're case, but don't walk away from the forums in general,
I for one enjoy your posts and it would be very boring if we all agreed all the time, comp agree about people respecting other peoples o pinion but sometimes when things get heated people forget that very important element.

i posted on the dog thread, didn't quote her or reply to her, saw some of the other replies and couldn't see anything aggressive, it was mainly sofar and iseek debating, i thought it was a good debate, it's an emotive topic so things can get heated but i didn't see any name calling, just differing views from a few posters, i think once it's done in a respectful manner then there shouldn't be a problem

People should honestly read the post before they cast judgement...there is absolutely nothing bad in it, just a difference of opinions and a good debate...just because someone gets upset because her beliefs are not taken into account or are pointed out that they are not facts doesn't call for a witch hunt or to go off in a huff...it was difference of opinions...are they supposed to agree to her opinions that dogs have souls just so she doesn't get upset??
