I got sick of listening about it in the news that eventually I didn't care what happened and I just wanted it to go away..besides the case against these men wasn't very compelling..the evidence was mostly circumstantial...thats why It dragged out for 6 weeks..it was always going to be thrown out ireland

Programme about the trial on RTE, tonight at 22:15. Should be interesting.

It was a mixture of the police messing up and the defence doing everything and anything they could to cast even the slightest of doubts and tarnish the victims.

i had followed it but stopped listening a couple of weeks ago when it became obvious she would get no justice, they use british law but from accounts on the radio the court room was a disgrace, very sad for her husband and family that she has been denied justice by what would appear to be bumbling police work

Mariannette: How well do you actually know him as opposed to how well you 'think' you know him?????

I dont know or think I know him in fact I dont think I would like to know him. If you read what I posted I said I can vouch he showed no care or compassion to others on a thread about suicide.
I dont judge people here on all of what they say but there has been a few threads on suicide that he has been very harsh in his posts and even laughed at some others here.

You may know him well and good on yagrin

As I have said many times in these forums, everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if and when it differs to mine.
This is one of those times. And however strongly you believe something.....I can feel equally as strongly about the opposite and vice versa.

Now back on topic......I know the defence lawyer has said that he wants the investigation re-opened.....but with all the tampered, mishandled evidence and shoddy initial police work, I dont feel that this story will have adequate justice as its outcome.

You are so right everyone is entitled to their own opinion and l am entitled to mine as much as you are to yours....

Back to the Topic....No trail now is going to be fair and justice will never be done.

stanley8m: Uhm yeah, and the bin liners containing evidence and documentation would really convince a jury that the police force were up to the job.

did they do it who really knows,
Fact remans the police botched the investigation and didnt provide any evidence other than the confessions which i do believe were beaten out of them,
now confessions given under serious duress are not always made up but if anybody believes in the rule of law then they can not convict under such evidence, and any further evidence was not supplied, jury made the right decession.

As for those who say they now will not holiday in mauritius,
do you think the french would be justified in feeling the same given the garda botched investigation into the sophie tuscan du plontier case??
