Monte, the article stated that the mother held him 12 hrs a day for 3 days, not for a year. However, it is still an incredible story to be sure. God must have some special plans in the future for this baby. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful story.
montemonte: Good grief....Okay, the mother touched the baby and then he woke up.
Just in case you don't know how to structure a sentence:
"The doctors told her they should prepare themselves that the baby would never wake up but one day the mother touched the baby and it woke up."
"It" refers back to the baby.
Monte, "Just in case you don't know how to structure a sentence" Isn't the reason I commented, I was implying that on you, but not grammaticality but compassionately.
To hear such a story then to hear "it"
"that the baby would never wake up" Try ...That her baby might never wake up ... Compassion and hope, I'm not looking for a fight but it puzzles me that some you would post the link and be so cold in your descriptive portrayal of it.

English isn't my first language, but from what I learned it's "he, she it" - I don't see anything wrong with using the word "it"
rockrabbit: Have you any children, nieces or nephews ?
Yes, I have.
I have no intention of picking a fight, just reading through Monte's post I didn't find it "cold", and reading Monte's posts in general, I think some thing she definately doesn't lack in compassion.

Good grief man. Why does everything have to turn into an argument? I explained that using the word "it" referred back to when I said the baby. If you think I'm cold for not saying "the baby" twice in the same sentence, that's your choice.
If I wasn't compassionate about the story do you think I would have posted it?
Rock - Just want to understand what you would have preferred I wrote. As of now the sentence reads "The doctors told her they should prepare themselves that the baby would never wake up but one day the mother touched the baby and it woke up".
Would you have preferred it to read "The doctors told her they should prepare themselves that the baby would never wake up but one day the mother touched the baby and the baby woke up.
If you like that better, then that's the way I'll leave it..
I'll admit I am missing a comma in the sentence....

No fighting here ! just mature conversation and picking up on a feeling.
Whilst talking about your children, when would you find yourself describing any one of them as "it"

Let's not fight, that's not my intention. It was just an observation which I should really have just kept to my self, I didn't post to show you up,
"it" for me is always used to describe inanimate objects !
