I'm having a break from Brain Improvement....and divide my time between the latest National Geographic, a beautiful love story trilogyl, and "The Idiots Guide To Business Management"... dont know why, just interesting to see what I did right or wrong in my life, plus it was free... from the dump.

At night, I'm trying to read through 2 books; one is going faster because of the fascination with the topic: Talisman by Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval about all the secret symbols built into the architecture of Paris and London based on the ancient cults of Isis and the Rosicrucian's; the other is The Jesus Papers by Michael Baigent about the purported escape of Jesus from the Crucifixion.....lots of assumptions by authors and some ,I think, far fetched translations/ interpretations. His book Holy Blood, Holy Grail was full of mistakes and fraud that I'm surprised it is still up for sale...

Nice to hear another opinion on Holy Blood Holy Grail.... I plowed thru that book, only for the simple reason that I hate to give up once I've started.... and it gave me a taste for further reading about the Knights Templar.
I would rather read a good fiction detective novel than waste my time now on speculative books of dubious facts.... cheers

The Essential Rumi (Selected Poems) translated by Coleman Barks.

There are only four books I have ever re-read.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the Hobbit.

That was, until now.

Mysticism and Life explanation in 13th Century Persia, by the founding father of the Whirling Dervishes.

This book is with me wherever I go. I just open it to any page and read a paragraph.

Smoky, just saw this from you....the entire story of the fraud behind Holy Bllod and how the authors were fooled is now available in "The Sion Revelation" by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince, in detail..."Inside the shadowy world of Europe's secret masters..." it is very good filled with documents, etc. that are easily cross checked. These authors did a wonderful job with "The Stargate Conspiracy" about all the esotaric secret societies that are into channeling, benign Space Brothers etc, all connected to the highest intelligence services of England and the US. Picknett and Prince have also written "The Templar Revelation" btw. So if you like real mysteries, dark figures lurking in shadows and unexplained deaths...find a copy of The Sion Revelation. And who knows where this may take you....

Back to the Reading Thread.... wot u all reading now?

I just finished "Black Elk Speaks", and two others on North American Indians.... Seven Arrows, and Lightning. Now I busy with a walking tour of England by an author who writes hilariously... Bill Bryson.
After this.... unless God intervenes in some miraculous way to provide me with some more non-fiction.... its the turn of the Dump books... where English books get dumped, alongside the old flower pots, ashtrays, kids prams, wine glasses, etc.dunno
