What was your best and worst job and why? ( Archived) (10)

Worst - Worked on a construction site that was totally unsafe, there were floors that didnt have any safety rails particularly around the lift shafts, i raised this with the foreman and got abused and told to get back to work, later that day one of the workers fell to his death, I went home that night and never went back.

Best - Got roped into holding a camera for an entire summer while my friend who was trying to launch his own fishing show hosted it. I got to travel around the country and do some great fishing, meet some great people and stay in hotels etc, sadly the tv companies didnt buy it and that was the end of the show.

Loved all my jobs but the worst was while I was still at school and had to change 20 beds on a saturday morning in 2 hours.

Worst job was probably working for the Welbilt Stove co on the assembly line. Can you spell BORING? They had it rigged so it was impossible to make any decent money. My fingers would bleed from pushing on wire connectors all day.

The best job was getting paid to go to Indy car, NASCAR, F1 races as a service technician and rubbing elbows with famous race drivers like Mario Andretti, Paul Newman and Richard Petty and having them come to me for advice. We always stayed at the better hotels and ate at whatever restaurant we chose all @ co expense.

best job - In focus groups - giving my opinion on ad campaigns and getting paid for it - sometimes up to $200 for 20 minutes to an hour.

worse job - most of them cause - it wasn't a job - it was just hard work and little pay.

NASCAR was boring, Formula 1 was awesome. I hardly even hung around for the race at NASCAR events once my job was done I was on my way to catch my plane for home and my farm. I actually got kicked out of a NASCAR event even though we were sponsoring Richard Petty, and providing free testing service to all the teams, we weren't allowed to bring our service van into the track because we didn't pay NASCAR some fee they demanded. Also NASCAR is corrupt and NASCAR officials have sabotaged competitors cars to tighten up the points race. NASCAR is all about money and nothing about racing.

Best was when I was an Executive Secretary for a very well known company that tracks credit history of corporations. The Vice President appreciated a hard days work, was family oriented. The company had good benefits and very easy to work for.

Worst was as a Legal Secretary for several law firms. Attorneys are very difficult to work for, condescending, arrogant, aren't family oriented, have the bare necessity for benefits and expect you to work very long days day after day no matter what else is going on in your life.
