Yes, at least subconsciously.
You see, my more obvious desires are mostly motivated from the same place - woman. I desire a flash car and I buy fancy clothes, not for my own sake but, because these are status-raisers which attract women and broaden my options.
Objectively speaking a Man does not require heavy plumage to aid in survival but, relatively speaking this plumage attracts woman, so to waste resources on the unnecessary is a prerequisite of attracting women and therefore helps me fall in love/spread her legs - the prime desire. Plumage = swoonage in women.
This illustrates the primacy of love over all other desires, at least for men.
