I understand more than you could guess. Be grateful you at least had some form of communication at all. They tell me time will heal but I believe that though time passes some scars will stay with us longer than others. Maybe there will be more conversation in the future. If it is so then make sure that if you have something still to say that you say it, if you do not get that opportunity then I suggest you feel the loss in your Heart and do not hide from it. It is something that can hurt future relations if it is not resolved in your Head and Heart. I myself must do the same in my life, more than once and sometimes with no communication at all. But in time if you do allow yourself to resolve and let those things go then you will find a new life that is like a new page that you had no idea ever existed.

Then I would say that it is that time to really search your Heart and your Head and decide what you will say or what questions you have. It is much harder to think of them in the heat of the moment.
