I WOULDN'T BE VERY WORRIED. First they have to communicate the amount of the fine, and I suppose you haven't an adress in Spain. If you haven't an account in Spain, they cannot take your money. Supposedly exist a cooperation to make the people pay their fines, if it's true wait news of your government. And if you are a truly honest citizen, go to the spanish embassy, and will be a remote possibility that you find someone there who'll help you to know what to do to pay the fine.
It depends on how you got the ticket, was it given in person, arrive at your home address because you were in a rental car and they have supplied the authorities your details or were you driving your own car and the authorities have tracked you down by your registration? Need more details to offer advice
