montemonte: Exactly....when you pulled the handle the cube broke into shreds like shaved ice.....not a bad idea to have a regular icemaker and a shaved icemaker in the freezer.

And then there were those plastic icecube trays that wouldn't release the cube because the tray was overfilled. You had to have muscles to twist the tray to get the cubes to come out

I'm going to be moving and the fridge where I'm moving to doesn't have an icemaker.....What's the world coming to...

Check the model #. They may have a kit for your new fridge. Then it's simply running a water line. Best wishes with your move.

The time I lived in Southern Cal the frig had a ice maker and I didn't like it cause I had to be very careful when I put bags of frozen veggies that they wouldn't get caught on the blades.

I was so glad when I was able to use an ice tray again.

Hmmmmm, that's different Cincy. My ice maker moving parts are all enclosed. There's no way that anything I put in the freezer could come in contact with any moving parts. In fact, the icemaker in my freezer doesn't have blades. The water goes into the enclosure that's like a tray and when it freezes the tray of cubes dump themselves into a container.

I suppose I could consider myself as being 'old fashion'.

I perfer to eat homecooked meals.

I perfer to grow some of my own food.

I perfer to catch fish then buy it in the stores.

I perfer to sleep in a tent then sleep in a camper or RV.

I perfer to wash dishes by hand over having a dish washer.I don't mind washing some of my clothes by hand even though I do have a washer/dryer.

The list goes on and on.

I can't do that Purr....at least I don't think I can do that. I'm moving into an apartment building that furnishes the fridge. I'm quite sure they won't let me remodel the freezer. But I appreciate the idea.
