A friend of mine made some horse salami and went to a BBQ and handed it out and all the ladies were "Ohhh! Delicious!", until he told them what it was and they were horrified and disgusted.
But then horse people tend to like horses more than they like people.
Really horses eat the same stuff as cows so should be fairly tasty. Sadly I have not partook.

Quite right. Horse meat is a delicacy.
An acquaintance of mine works for a company (near my place)that sells horse meat to Japan and a few countries in Europe. They buy the little ponies from USA and then get them by train into Mexico feed them and then send the cuts to the countries mentioned before.
That company does not sale that horse meat in Mexico they only export it but some employees get some of it and I have tried it. It is very lean and very tasty.
For the Tesco's hassle, they could have used a better marketing approach and advertise those horse-burgers as a gourmet item, getting a better profit from it.
