Well Wiki says Chemistry a branch of physical science is the study of the composition properties and behavior of matter.
But I think they are refering to the fact in Chemistry you can mix two substances and there can be an explosion. You can also mix another two substances and there will be no reaction at all.
In dating terms Explosion = Good. No reaction = Bad.
