i don't think it has to. but if cyber jealousy is an issue, hopefully partners can honestly discuss it together and come up with a plan to ameliorate the problem and strengthen the 'We'.
but...
i think it can. if one's behavior creates an atmosphere of mistrust within the partnership because of online activity, and communication/action is not taken to secure or rebuild trust...not so good. having said that, if one is seeking outside the relationship, online, wherever..(avoidance through gaming, online intimacy with others, etc..) it suggests that they did not value the partnership enough to respect their partner to begin with, or that same energy would of been spent going into the relationship rather than away from it. (we get what we focus on)
the partnership still needs to deal with the jealousy if they wish to remain together, as it signals trust issues within the relationship
love cannot be jealous, it is impossible.
