Are Women Worse Investors Than Men--Or Just More Careful? ( Archived) (3)

Mar 21, 2013 2:15 PM CST Are Women Worse Investors Than Men--Or Just More Careful?

Women's reluctance to take risks, and the potential shortfall they face in retirement, have been a growing concern among policymakers and women's advocates. An opinion survey from Prudential insurance company last year found that while some 70 percent of men are willing to take financial risks, fewer than half of women were.

Gleaned from the comments:
"Women spend it all on shoes, sales and unneeded nonsense. Of course they have less to invest they are wearing thier retirement."

They also have less money to invest, that could be one of reasons. I did invest in land when I had money, but it seemed a safe investment at that time. I, however, made mistake last time I bought the land and sold too early with a small profit when two years later it would have been great many times of that. It is hard to maintain the property though, and may be that was a reason - the police fined me for not taking care of the land and I budged at the end. May be the man would not budge, I don't know.
