Stand up for yourselves and join us on May 1st, send a message that you will take no more.

Wednesday 1st May is May Day. The Campaign against Home and Water Taxes have designated this as a day of Civil Disobedience.

The Kildare Campaign against Home and Water Taxes have decided to do a motor cavalcade through the towns of Naas, Newbridge and Kildare on Wednesday 1st May. We'll travel slowly through each town highlighting our opposition to this unfair tax.

We are asking you to come along and show your support for the Campaign and your opposition to the Home tax - all you need to do is bring your car and drive slowly! We will assemble at Woodies Car Park, Monread, Sallins Road, Nass at 7pm on Wednesday 1st May and drive though Naas, make our way to Newbridge and finish in Kildare town.

I raised the issue of the start time at the last meeting, it was decided the later starting time would be better as many people work and may not be available during the day + it was felt that slowing traffic during peak working hours may interfere with peoples livelihood.

As for not being civil disobedience, fair point but there will be many other actions taken nationwide and not associated with the CAHWT that can't for obvious reasons be publicized.

Ah am only messing with you. Fair play at least your getting out there and doing something instead of just sitting moaning about it.

There will be many similar events on in Dublin.

As far as being optimistic, well when you get a bunch of like minded people together under a common goal, you'll that it's a lot easier to engage with total strangers and people are generally friendlier and more open than normal.

In short, no.

The North Koreans are a bit busy at the moment and the Chinese are really not that bothered to be honest :)

It's organised by ordinary hard working tax-payers that have had enough.

We do have PAIRTI CUMMANACHT NA hEIREANN members involved but so what?
It's a grassroots campaign that is non-political and made up from ordinary people from all across the political spectrum.

All you will do with protests like that is cause havoc in the lives of the ordinary people you claim to be representing.

How many Bank Board members, cabinet ministers or members of the Troika do you think will be around Kildare on May 1st?dunno But I do know you will piss a lot of every day people off and when it turns violent like it always does it will be the shopkeepers and car owners who have to pay for the carnage.roll eyes

Firstly, the only person I represent is myself, this is not targeted at Ministers or the Troika...it is to gain public support and make people aware that the resistance to these charges is not and will not subside.

Secondly, anytime there is a local protest, these everyday people have been hugely supportive, very rarely do we receive any complaints or ill feeling.

Maybe you could cite reference to even one of these protests ending up in a riot where private or public property has been damaged.
Considering they are carried out on a weekly basis around the country I am unable to find a single case where any criminal damage has been done.

Where are all these smashed up shops and overturned burning cars?
The last time that happened was at the Love Ulster event and that was down to scumbags and dissident republicans.

I'd hazard a guess and say you are either grossly misinformed or a staunch member of one of the political parties currently in power.
