Content? Is that simply it? Don't you think that belittles the wonder of the natural world? Some animals/creatures would put us humans to shame in their means and methods of survival and adaptability.
Green_Sleeves: What were you doing at a funeral if you don't believe all this stuff?! 'Heaven' is a nice concept I guess. By my reckoning theres a glitch in the human psyche whereby we believe ourselves to be so advanced and intelligent, but, theres a glitch in the system somewhere, a short circuit, crossed wires whereby the mere idea that us only being here for X amount of years and then simply 'expiring' we cant comprehend. Our attachments and bonds we form are too strong, the thought that someone we loved simply 'died' and ceases to exist is terrifying, the idea however that that person will go to an eternal rest, an afterlife where in time we will meet them again when our time comes is a temporary brief over that 'glitch' and provides us with some small level of comfort.
Was one of my best friends and she believed it all, I went because I loved her.
I dont find it terrifying, I find it heartbreaking at times like today, but more real than the fantasy of a heaven.

I really don't understand why people bother...i wouldn't go into a mental home and try to explain evolution or science to a patient doped up on meds, it'd be pointless...it's pretty much what people are doing here...

because people have this need to understand things like how is the universe here etc
and if you say some magic guy (in whatever form you believe) did it then some people find that easier to believe than not knowing.

Yes of course there is always a reason, and thankfully with modern technology and science we can explain all these natural wonders, there isn't some guy in the clouds pressing buttons, we've moved beyond that thought system.
