I wonder why these Republicans rather waste a $100M a day shutting down the goverment just to kill the so called Obama care; by the way President Obama never calls it Obama care, Republicans did. And Republicans are doing this with God on their side, you can see their smiling faces on TV. The good thing about all this, I'll be in hell watching their not so smiling faces when God take care of these very few good men...Amen!

Must be Siesta time i don't have the full picture on why there is so much agro about the people getting medical care just because business has to pay out a few bob for it. Most of the people against it can afford private med. anyway.

Sorry to say, not every one can afford to pay $300, $500, even $600 hundreds a month for health insurance...I like Germany health care insurance, those companies are non-profit.
Nancy Pelosi is right they are legislative arsonists! they are willing to shut down government for their ideology - to hell with taking care of the American people.

It's siesta time now, but I'm like a noontime owl.
Here some discuss about why everybody must pay for a public med when they also pay a private med (in which one is not the last of a long waiting list).

say Republican WHAT!!!!!????? Miami is democratic by majority vote - the rest of the state of Florida - when they try to vote are predominately Republican.
In every other civilized country in the World has health care coverage for their residents and citizens.... except in America.
It's just insane that the politicians are holding the American people hostage by their philosophy - and they are using the budget that funds all because they don't want to fund health care reforms.

Well not everyone agrees with your figures with subsidies.
$72Federal SubsidyHow is this calculated? Under the law, people earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level—about $46,000 for a single person—are eligible for federal subsidies to help buy insurance. The value of the subsidies is tied to income, along with the price of the second-cheapest silver-level plan available to that customer.
At each income level, the law sets a maximum portion of a worker's modified adjusted gross income at each income level that must be used to buy insurance before the subsidies kick in.
The subsidy equals the difference between that threshold and the price of the second-cheapest silver plan available to that customer. Plan cost $89 Federal subsidy N/A Monthly cost $89 Catastrophic (Health Net, Inc.) $6,350 deductible $6,350 out-of-pocket max Plan cost $129 Fed. subsidy -$72 Monthly cost $57 Lowest-cost Bronze (Moda Health) $6,350 deductible $6,350 out-of-pocket max $45 physician copay 3 physician visits covered before deductible Plan cost $151 Fed. subsidy -$72 Monthly cost $79 Lowest-cost Silver (Moda Health) Single health system in network $2,500 deductible $6,000 out-of-pocket max 35% coinsurances $35 physician copay Plan cost $217 Fed. subsidy -$72 Monthly cost $145 Mid-level Silver (BridgeSpan Health Company) $2,500 deductible $6,350 out-of-pocket max $35 physician copay Physician care and generic drugs covered before deductible
These are a few figures with subsidy. A little different than yours.

JeanKimberly, My apology to you..."It's just insane that the politicians are holding the American people hostage by their philosophy"
USA idea that the government decides who is worthy to receive tax dollars in health care or benefits
In Canada every Canadian child receive a set amount of $ a month until they are 18 years of age - the only rule they are Canadian or Canadian resident and defined as a child. In Germany they have the same support.
In America - there is not such thing except to allow some governmental agency persons to make a decision if the child is poor enough, or deserving enough to receive food stamps or governmental assistance - this goes for all governmental programs to help the least, the last and the lost in America.
America is not a country that helps its citizens it is a country that helps those that are judged worthy or deserving -
Shame on us for this kind of attitude in the way we set up policy to take care our citizens and residents.

I agree with the Canadian and German principals you mention, and have to agree many people have questioned the US approach to poverty.
