Indeed it is! 
Hard to do when no one is saying anything, and all that's happening is people are second guessing what you are saying without adding anything new to listen to.

Yup listenting is an art. Too many of us, and i am guilty as well at times are seeking to take the lead in conversations. Active listening is a skill and can be learned though.
Not only do we try to take the lead in conversations, but so often we interrupt each other, minds already racing toward the next point we want to make.
yes indeed..i am the first to admit its hard to bite the tongue sometimes.
the thing is when you listen you may actually learn something about a person, the situation and you know you may even change your mind regarding something....that could be a view you had but you know... everyone is entitaled to speak their mind and you know.... if you want to be heard then listen once in a while... in the case of forums read and ask questions to be clear about a topic...people generally are more apt to repond to positive critisism rather then negative right????!!!
I have become so irritated by that lately in my surroundings, and in a way...could it be what we often do on CS as well when the topic gets sided for a bit or completely forgotten?
