The motor tax scam, in some cases the average Irish person is paying ten times that of a londoner, some people here are even paying up to one thousand eight hundred , are you tired of being robbed?

Now matter how careful I drive no matter what I do the b,stards have found a way of robbing me under the pretext of having a vehicle , clamping , parking fines, road tax, speed traps, its a disgrace or in other words exstortion, theres no escape , think I will go back to having a motorbike and have a lever to the number plate so I can hide the number plate when the need arises.

I know. And now they're starting on the house and water. That's the State for ya, it just grows and grows like yeast, gobbling up more and more money to create more and more State agencies, boards, inquiries and all that. And people keep crying out for more. More laws, more regulations, more inspecitons..... ffs, who do they think is paying for it?

Mine is out since...well a while roll eyes I worry more about watching out for checkpoints up ahead and taking a sharp left or right out of their path if I spot one...It catches in my throat to pay it and I spend half my time driving trying to avoid potholes thumbs down

Easy way to avoid all that, dont park were you shouldnt and dont speed.

My car tax is low, I dont need a big car for the journeys I do, actually lots of people here could drive smaller cars but choose not to.

Yeah, it's a great site, I often wonder do the Gardaí check it out. lol

I haven't resorted to the country driving practise of parking wherever you want so long as you have the hazard lights on, now that just annoys me.laugh

assuming your car is insured they will catch up with you sooner or later anyways as its in the national data base, also with the new "of road declaration" you will have to back tax it to the day it was first registered to you, i know its a balls, but its getting harder to get away with it these days frustrated

uk motor tax is way less than ours, then again they only have to provide roads to twice the size country...with a population of nearly 60 million in excess of ours..

i dont pay anything like 1800, no one needs to pay that, we have a choice when we buy cars what tax to pay, i chose a co2 150 car cos i dont want to pay anymore than 390 a year..if i had no kids i could have an even smaller car n pay way less.

its all choice. its not a legal requirement to have a car...people carrier, jeep whatever, people choose what they can afford.
