stanley8m: Witty, I think the principle of charity is honourable and noble, however, when suits get involved, honour and integrity leave the building. I gave up donating to charities years, I volunteer my time instead and help out locally.

People are a charities most valuable assist.

Do you wear little white shorts when doing this voluntary work grin

My sister and I are doing it this year, she did it last year for the hospice in Harolds Cross and doing it for them this year and I am doing it for the alzheimers/dementia...But directly for the centre my dad attends, the help they give goes far beyond a "job" and is invaluable thumbs up

I did it last year for sunshine house in Dublin as a local family lived there with their baby till she passed away.

This year I want to do it for something more personal to me.

Yeah, can get that...why I am doing it for something that affects our family...I know charities took a bashing recently but either way there are a lot of great ones doing a lot of great work that goes unsung and they desperately need funding...

I agree, great organisations. But what do you think of executive salaries in charities?

My opinion is if you are working for a charity you should not expect to make above a certain wage. The money raised should go to the cause it is intended for.

Some fund raisers, are paid their salary on a percentage, thus the more they raise the bigger their wage, but likewise the less successful they are the lower their wage.
This works for charities. thumbs up

Most who work for a voluntary/chartable organisation get paid the proper rate of pay depending on their position and job specification, as it should be. And many many are underpaid, those who work in the voluntary sector, do above and beyond their job description, without extra pay, now is that fair then?

I need a new suit laugh

there my recommendations for anniebaby, as for state funded organizations of any kind all fund's and expenses should be public knowledge.

People are entitled to a fair wage, but the salaries some charity executives are on, I dunno Witty, it goes against my sense of morality and ethics.
