That was in Cyprus where public transport and travel costs were probably less expensive and less hassle than here in the last 10 years.

You could try and mail all the people within a 50 mile radius of Bristol, who've logged in within the last week, and see if there's an interest in a meet.
Link this thread in the mail, and see if they will post as to whether they'd be interested. That way, you'd have people all chatting before the meet, so it wouldn't tie you up too much after the initial start.
You may need to get a man involved, as some of the women may have a mail restriction that blocks women mailing.
