In their day, they WERE the No 1 band on the planet! Saw them live twice (once obscenely close to the stage and couldn't help but notice two members!!
). I do not like all their songs, but some of them stick in my head to this very day! (Yeah,...their commercial success with Waterloo comes to mind - but WHAT a SONG!!) One of my good friends LOVED ABBA and the Beachboys,...and go figure, now he rides with the Hells Angel's!------ This thread is Archived ------

Back in the day I actually heard 2 rumours about ABBA;
1. They couldn't, or at best poorly, speak English and sang all of their songs phonetically
2. They were at one time, so popular, that they accepted payment in commodities (grain, oil, etc) as a way to defer taxes!
Whether true or not, like I said, some songs really stuck in my head!
