The world of technology is changing fast. The tech companies announced that they will no longer invest in improving social media, but in wearable/practical technology instead. That market is basically saturated.
Social media will still be part of the net landscape, but they're fast becoming the fossils of the internet. Apps will replace dating sites and so on. Add to that the decreasing privacy, protection of personal information and the increasing number of cyber-criminals, it seems we're moving back to square one in terms of "connecting singles".
In plain English: It'll be easier for you to remotely adjust the temperature in your house, but unless you want to be scammed, you'll be better off looking for love in your own backyard.
