jono7: hiya 2i

i've had that experience too. a temp hygienist did a lot of damage. i ended up with an abcess over it and required a root canal!

it gets better....

i'm allergic to penicillin, and i was flying to kentucky later that week. i had not purchased flight cancel insurance. . so they won't give you freezing if you have an infection till it's cleared up and alternative anti-biotics were going to take 10 days...

sooo...i had to have the bloody root canal without any freezing or cancel my trip...

i think back now and wonder...how the hell did i do that kind of stuff?... i'd faint now....

Cripes, that's a terrible fix to be in. I wonder how they managed to become certified hygienists if they're hacking people's gums up like that? uh oh We bore a child Jo so go figure...and now the shop is closed and with it, the tolerance for pain. laugh Yeah, I'm allergic to Penicillin too. sigh

secretagent09: Hi D.....I have a very gently hygienist and that's a good thing cause my gums are very sensitive. When I get my teeth cleaned, which is every six months, I take Nitrice. It's a light gas that takes the edge off what she is doing. It doesn't put me to sleep, just makes my mind wander. It's just a mask on my face while she is working. When she's done she gives me 100% oxygen before I take the mask off. I'm going next week without any fear of being hurt.

Hiya M wave It's great to have options available to make your experience with cleaning more pleasant and it does make all the difference in the world on the skill of the one doing the cleaning.

I am the product of a mother who had all of her teeth removed by the time she was 20. And a father who passed away at 61 had all of his teeth with no fillings or teeth extracted...and a mother who passed away at 94 with no fillings or teeth extracted. Brother and sister inherited my dad's teeth genes.

Being a sickly child of the 50s and a bit premature born, I did manage to survive on anti-biotics for many years and never really develop enamel on my teeth, and possibly being genetically very close to my mother. I hate dentists.

On saying that, over the last 30 years, dentistry has developed towards more painless intrusive work. My now dentist recently removed a tooth. 1 injection and the tooth was still tender. Next injection and 60 seconds of playing around by my dentist and he was telling me how to take care of the "wound."

A dental horror story crying
my teeth have always been good but like everyone there comes a time,
had a back tooth split on me so off I go to the dentist,
a woman dentist who would not do it, so of I go to a specialist
he gave me a few jabs and I was thinking that's not very numb but you trust these people so I said nothing, blues
sticks the scalpel in and runs it in the gum around the tooth I felt everything I grabbed hold of the chair arms and sweat was pouring out of me
then he gets this fish hook type thing and he's digging into my skull
all I could do was think of meat loafs song Bat out of hell
I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest
then the swine took a hammer drill to the tooth the sound and vibration and pain was bad I had involuntary tears pouring down my face
in desperation I started looking for the scalpel which luckily was out of reach because I was going to stick it through his heart,
then out comes the fish hook thing and he finally gets it out.
then they left me sitting there shattered covered in sweat with blood crusted on my lips and my chin and never even offered a cup of water to rinse with, just gave me one freaking tissue,
thank you very much,,one thousand dollars, filthy swine,
I think he was a vet from some war some where, never again will I sit there and cop that, piglet cow dung eating maggot,
