I am situated on a corner of my street with my side of home facing a lovely large green filled with established trees,

However the front of my house is facing street that is not busey as such but would just like to either plant.

A hedge to plant all way round to the side but I like the whole view of the green

I'm wondering if a 4 ft concrete type wall fence be best,

I've seen a garden done with it and it has swirly type patterns in it with gaps so its private yet dosnt obstruct from the view I want of the green.

Does anyone know the type I'm talking about,

Is it expensive.?

Would you go for hedge or wall,

If you like your view go for low trellis fencing. A hedge will need maintenance and concrete is yuk!

Yes I've a biggish side garden and too mich maintenance for hedging Freya your right,

But the wood rots and I'm on a hill and we get alot of wind in winter and the rain ,wood rotts,

I've seen a low concrete wall but it looks lovely because it has swirly patterns made all made of concrete with gaps it looks lovely painted and climbers up against it,

I saw it in a house passing when I was working on my bus in the countryside,

Can't remember where,

I'm wondering has anyone heard if this type wall it looks really nice,

Thanks fraya,

Hedge would be cheapest option if you buy small plants..you'd be waiting years for them to establish properly..I'd suggest common laurel or photinia red robin..the latter being my favouriteireland

peachmelba: Is the common laurel the one with big light green leaves it grows quicker than the others,?

I'd need to but them about 3 ft high as the small ones would just get picked out by passers by,

I think my garden right around would measure 2oo metres ,would it be expensive, do you know,?

My iPad ,

Ahh.

frustrated .

I'd need to buy them about three foot high each otherwise passers by ,teens and kids pick them out,

And other people s with different flags to our purple and gold coming home from matches at the gaa park after losing would tear them up,

So they have to be about three foot so the only way to get them up would be with a spade and I'd shoot them I'f they dared,

My son thinks go for the hedge but I think maybe that concrete wall with the swirly gaps that looks kind of Celtic might be nice,

I could get it about 4 ft high and it's fine so that you can see through it and plant climbers up it,

This would give me still the view of the green with all the trees to side of my house,

If I get the hedge the laurel which is lovely btw but it would obstruct the whole view of the green and the bottom of the trees,

well planting the hedge is the easy bit.but do you want the job of cutting it every year?, low wall be the job would be more expensive, but no maintenace

Yes going to go with the low wall and plant wall flowers up it,

I think it all measure 200 metres,

I was looking up all the things that can be made out of concrete for the garden when I googled it,

Just want to get the low wall but I'm thinking of allow wall with spaces in it so I get full view of the green with all the trees at the side of my house where I have windows and patio to look out at green,

Be a sin to obstruct the view ,,have large side garden but the view of trees win over complete privacy in garden,

Thanks entername for getting back,
