He is a man who started from zero and built himself a career.
Have some respect.

Maybe not, but a comedian's work is often underrated.
Cos let's face it, any cheesy soup opera can make people cry,
but only a talented comedian can make you laugh.
Considering the world we live in, a laugh counts
for a lot, at least in my book it does.
That's why it's always extra sad when a comedian dies,
Rik Mayall, Robin Williams, etc...
they bring so much joy to people and
then they are gone...
Would hate to see Mr Carrey's work not
being properly recognized by the industry.
I hope they don't wait until he passes to
give him an award.

As someone who has seen all of his movies, I can assure you he is hilarious and can certainly act despite never attending acting lessons.
Jim is indeed talented! Hilarious? Most of the time he truly his (but he has had some less than stellar moments). And yes,...I have seen EVERYTHING he has done. An Oscar? Put your complaints to the Academy....they judge on factors not related to hilarity or box office gross,....the are a clique......Jim has done okay with People's Choice and the Globes.....but the Oscars are a tricky "nut to crack". Closest I ever thought he come was in Cable Guy....had Hitchcock directed him.....maybe....anyways.....its all Academy politics....who cares? I just watch the Oscars for the "who died", the comedy, and the possible nip-slip or other amazing costume (thanks Cher, Geena Davis....etc)
