Over the years...quite a few! Edmonton used to hold some rather serious gatherings. Have another I need to meet very soon...and lest I forget, I met and love one from this site and she lives with me now....and constantly reminds me to take out the garbage! Distance is always problematic for all of us...but with some planning, effort and desire...this site provides amazing opportunity!

PS - The gal from Nigeria will always be a "no-show" whether you send her your bank account number or not!

Asteroid impacts...like the Mexican event of 65 million years ago...many millions of times the combined power of the entire planetary nuclear arsenal. Last scenario I grudgingly read estimates a reduction of nearly 75 - 80% of human population with an all out exchange...depending on location...that is Mad Max survivable...albeit back to the Stone Age...the atomic exchange in Japan...a bit over a 100,000....very small bombs. Terrorism as it stands right now is extremely effective because it is instilling terror...yet the actual death toll is very miniscule.

In my mind, it would seem that you are allowing the terrorists to win,...in my lifetime, and in conference with my elders,..this is but a blip...a minor global ideological concept totally overblown by social media! Could you imagine the posts if the intermet had been around during WW I or II?

Life is a hockey game...don't let the other team get to you with their trash talk,...especially when they are this weak! ISIL ramps up their attacks because of desperation...as did Germany with V2 attacks when they realized they were truly losing.

How to win this war? Patience, tolerance, strategy, and well-informed tactics, some education....and if all else fails....nuke the planet and give it to the insects left behind!

Take care LJ....my automatic rifles have been locked and loaded....but I see no major conflict in my backyard....so I stand-down (but at the ready!)

Then we seem to understand each other, and with that, any additional comments I may put forth will not serve any greater purpose. ISIS/ISIL - terrorists who warp the scripture of the Quran,...a definite global problem. Will I solve the problem through discussion on a supposed dating site? My scientific education would indicate the probability is extremely low!

As I am not of a religion...I am oft confused as to why all the hate...to be honest, I feel far more hate is being generated towards the US from their global actions over the decades as opposed to religious ideologies...but that is only my perspective. Too often these days I see attempts to fight "fire" with "fire", and as a firefighter, that can and does work...but so does water.

I leave you to refer to the Sermon on the Mount (Gospel of Matthew) and the Sermon on The Plain (Gospel of Luke).

The extremists will...yes,...they are into LITERAL interpretation. The Torah, the bible, the Quran,...all have passages that can be misinterpreted.

I failed to properly respond to your last post (dang computers!)...I will try again and then respectfully back away from this discussion...I truly tire of the two BIG religions on this planet and their squabbles! As an atheist, I have no religious scripture or doctrine to base my actions or condemnation upon...only my humanistic understanding of morality and what is right.

To all...I am here only for intelligent and respectful...albeit at times, heated discussion. I hold no malice towards the OP, or any religion. I am an atheist, by choice, after my parents told me to read scripture/doctrine of mono and polytheistic religions before choosing my path - and I did. ALL religious text and scripture, without exception, promotes retaliation to the level of death...

To the Christians...explain to me Deuteronomy 17? If interpreted at an extremist level...what sayeth this passage? Just asking? Although without theism, my studies continue...

It depends. One on one? For the most part, yes, it is probably against the law of most countries is there has been no declaration that it is necessary to kill. I have sat in a room, with family, wherein the combined "kill count" by the people exceeded over 400 people - such is war. No religion, no sect of humanity, has not, at a given point in time, sanctioned the killing of another human. This has been happening for many, many, many, many years! The usual recourse when one group kills and annoys another group, is, yes,...to tell them to desist, and if they don't...well, they get killed!
