and found out I'm cover only if my home is destroyed

by 'Zombie Apocalypse' moping and I asked what about a hurricane

a sink hole? insurance said/one of this day indeeduh oh

Not only that but you are only covered for rebuild costs and NOT the market value. Most people are over insured and an insurer wont pay the difference. For instance if the market value (sell price) would be e350k but it would only cost e150k to rebuild, you need to insure it for e150 as you wont get the extra e200k if it burnt to the ground. Also, most people have their contents over insured. Ridiculously so. The living room is generally the most expensive room in the house, in most cases. If you evaluate this room, then evaluate each room other than that and tot it all up. Thats your contents cover, no more no less. You wont get more that this. In Ireland, our insurance companies use the Chartered Surveyors of Ireland to value property in Ireland, chances are, its the same in each country but you need to check yours. But, using this guide, it will give you the county by county value per sq ft so you can just do the math for the rebuild costs.
