Serene, why did you bring up this subject?
If you're worried about dying then don't, we're all going to die, some in small doses and some in large doses....karmas gonna hit you, don't worry about the fact that you're going to die (inevitable).

Think of the person that's going to carve you up, pity on their souls.

The fact of life is death, you can't escape it, NPK......grow a tree in your name and visit it from time to time and know where your roots come from.

Embrace it, but don't bottle or categorize death.

In my opinion being dead and a person's spirit are 2 different things.

serene56: Indeed I find it interesting how death and what follows for the deceased person is addressed by different cultures.

Western culture tends to be very neat, tidy and discreet about it..

We leave the transportation and preparation of our loved one's remains to an outside party and pay our respects when they are secreted away in a wooden box or fit for viewing, where appropriate.

On the other hand, I found when on the banks of the Ganges, I was invited to climb stairs to the smouldering remains of a very public funeral pyre, pieces of bone still apparent..

Hiking in the hills of northern Thailand, and in the bushes a mound of rubble with the ragged remains of clothing and personal belongings, a burial site..

wine wine serene,,

Just to a litle to the above,, In the high plains of Vietnam,, there's an ethnic/tribal group that observe such unique practice,,

When they feel death is imminent ,, they make a live burial ceremony,,
families, friends,, celebrate/gather around and bid goodbye,, after the ceremony, nobody knows where they are going to face death alone.blues
