I thought this thread was about Meadowlark Lemon of the Harlem Globe Trotters who also passed away.

I met him when I was a little kid, living in Toronto.


Never met Lemmy, but my brother and a few friends did after their concert here in Edmonton a few years ago. They went to a bar after the show, and in walks Lemmy, so they had drinks with him while playing pool. He was a genuine, decent person, and apparently a fairly good pool player. I was supposed to meet them at the bar, but stayed home instead.[/quote]oops.

When I was maybe 12 I went to a Basketball game by the Globe Trotters. I didn't realize at the time they were mostly into entertainment and exibitionism. I thought it was a real basketball game with real competition. Come to find out it was all showbiz. They always played against the same team and of course they always outshown the other team which was part of the script. At the time I couldn't understand how come the other team was so inept.
