purr4mance: for post #427... yes bo, sounds good, but i think the level of response is going to directly depend on the number of signatures you're able to actually get.

majority is king and always rules with anything.

and yes, send it in, what are you waiting for?

Yeah I know, but if you write a personal message it should at least be read and assigned a different form letter.. yawn

bohemianjack: The microsoft upgrade said the reason my computer was not compatible was because the graphics system in the 4 year old HP desktop was not Win 10 compatible... 1 year newer and it may have worked.. beyond that I have plenty of ram and processor capacity, it's the DSL connection between the endpop 2 miles down the road and the central office 10 miles away. It's usually better during the week when there aren't so many kids laying on the computer while they should be outside when they're at the cabins around here. I'll try using the high speed from my cell phone as a hot spot cabled directly to my desktop in the next couple weeks here.

i know you don't have cable but for long distances cable has boosters to help send a stronger signal. fact

maybe dsl has something like that. i would put money on it. call your service/provider.

nope, sorry, can't help you there.

cable provides internet and a tv connection here.

and it's getting ridiculously expensive.

Yeah like I said, cable internet really sucks, the more subscribers on your cable loop the slower you will go.. wink

that's true but their is a strength of signal that is regulated and they can't go under.

i've never had any problems with speed.

although the only time i did have trouble was about 20 years ago when i had dial-up. (never again)

you have to be able to get a better signal by some type of booster being 2 miles down the road.

i know i installed cable boosters for commercial buildings 100 yards away.,so you are do for a booster of some sort.

get boosting.

purr4mance: sure they have, but they've lost control and owe favors.

so it's get in line and we'll give you (the states) funds only if you say, tax the casino winnings at such and such rate.

it always seems to be this for that when states try and get funding.

the roads, especially around here are like skiing moguls due to salt. i wouldn't by a new car for anything.

i imagine up there you have the same problem.

infrastructure best be part of the plan for either of these two.

Actually, I think that they use asphalt to dumb down the population during troubling times. And they started overlaying the highways everywhere around Minnesota right after the 2008 crash to stimulate the economy, or so they say. This year they have started chip-sealing all the overlayed highways, and it's been so bad around here some days I can barely think fast enough to keep up with writing in forums, only slightly better days like today with cooler weather.. wink

Yeah that's for cable, the telco systems are different. An endpop is a hut where they have the dslam equipment to hook up to the endloop subscribers. The connection between here and the endpop always tests good, The dslam is like a higher capacity modulator that connects via fiber to the telco central office server.. laugh

DSL over phone lines should be good a few miles away. It's a long story... too technical for this media.. and I can't write enough to educate an electrician.. handshake

Dslam... digital subscriber line access multiplexers.. smile

1. The Host Server

The most common cause of slow speed on the Internet is the host server. This server may be configured incorrectly or underpowered for the number of people using it at the same time. A slow server can affect anything you do on the Internet.
