Woah woah, hold the fort a moment. Do you realize just what presence that US has in defending all of your borders? We treat Canada like family, and you will be protected until such time as the US ceases to exist.

I am not sure exactly what troops you have, or what training they get... but fact of the matter is that they're doing something to defend their country. That sits highly with me, and any who talk junk about them without sacrificing the very same blood, sweat, and tears really don't hold much weight in my eyes. If one cannot enlist due to medical reasons or other, there are still quite a few civilian sector jobs that allow you to help them indirectly, before that card gets played.

"If you can read this, thank those who fought for the freedoms you have."

Your post appears to try to tie 9/11 to Saddam in my eyes, unless I misunderstood it. The death tolls will come to an end when the civil war that's religion-based over there stops.. which it won't, it's been happening for 100's of years now. There is a difference between wanting to remove terrorists, and randomly targeting countries over greed as well. (Which is what I feel Bush did, due to the oil.. but that's a whole other thread in itself.)

Bin Laden is probably in Pakistan, one of 5 countries where he can safely hide without extradition, and is one that doesn't like the US. (my thoughts on that)

Well said, and is exactly why us pushing the buttons of Iran and North Korea right now isn't the best of ideas - especially since NATO has a 'new-found' interest in Iran's nuclear program as of December 31st of last year.

This, combined with Iran & North Korea working on the FRICBM.. is going to be a major catastrophe no matter how we look at it. If they get the FRICBM operational, they can deliver nuclear/chem/biological warheads at 8000-12000km, which is a hell of a range and only 3 countries in the world have that technology at this time. Those 3 are the US, Japan, and a few small pieces of what's left of mother Russia.

If we attempt to stop it, it's going to be met with resistance, and more deaths.. both intentional, and incidental. That is how war goes, and I would really like to see a peaceful solution to this but sadly.. I do not see one.

My .02,

Rich

the american army does the best they can but the problem they have is that the government has them spread to thin to do their job effectivally. that was my point on "Americas problem"

People often underestimate the power of the Canadian military. I've seen the training they go through, and know that they are roughly the same as a ranger. I believe that the only difference for the most part is a bit of the CQB training, and the martial arts style(s) taught. I know that certain parts of the US military are taught Krav Maga, but am completely clueless as to whether or not any Canadian troops are.

cheers

yeah thats up into the special forces stuff in both armies. our infantry are taught basic takedowns and "punch here= hurt more" but no actual martial arts. there are always martial atrs courses running (put on by the CF) that most soldiers take on their own time but it is not manditory.

Rich makes a lot of sense.

Canada has a good army and i understand that Mr. Harper is spending money to improve it, whereas the Liberals under Martin were decreasing the military spending.

Also, my opinions of Bush have nothing to do with Americans. i think the nation itself is amazing and its people are awesome. Its funny how Rich mentioned Oil as i did earlier...Bush has other adgneda's plain and simple.
I am unimpressed with the Bush(s) tenure. I wish Gore got in and not Bush. its too bad, because i think the adgenda's would have been different and Gore would have focused more of her energy on important issues like the environment for example.

lol too funny. i figured an army guy with his little green suit would come in here. lol. well its my choice what i think of the canadian army. but what i say is the truth. its not your fault you cant go and do some real fighting with some real big monsters. its the prime ministers fault. so im not blaming you at all. just saying facts. lets be honest here. so many canadian men say its not our war if its in the US. WRONG! it is our war. why is it men can put up a shot gun to a deer but not a terrorist. lol. hmmmmmm

confused a deer and a terrorist...just dont get your analogy or comparrison of the US to Canada.

Simply put we have our own values in Canada. The US government has there's which is much different than our governments. Acting (US)as the world bully will keep coming back to haunt that great nation. sigh

US is not the one who started this war, osama bin laden did. i know you dont care about the US citizens but we should. they are our neighbours and when osama comes out of hiding, like us canadians all hell is going to let loose and no more slurpees for you mommas boys.
tongue now... before you start slamming bush and the US, think twice. its our turn next. so get your slurpees while you still can.

whatever.
i never said i dont care about the US citizens. i dont think we need to go to war and fight all the time. The US is always doing that. Many nations across the world seem to agree.
Osama Bin Laden has nothing to do with Iraq or Saddam...get your facts straight.

next time you tell me to get my facts straight make sure you read entire post. i never said osama has anything to do with saddam. i said all this started because of osama. 911 was hit, then the US went in, couldt find osama so they thought we may as well get another murderous moron who needs to die. therefore, they got their wish, the moron is dead. what difference does it make which moron dies first. you just are scared if we go in to help you will die in battle. well it happens, thats life. war, killing, the works. so stop hiding from behind your computer and do some reading. about war and facts. typical dumb witted mans comment. what we women have to put up with. frustrated
