That is called patriotism....supporting the "leaders" WE choose and standing behind our country...however if one does not know WHAT they stand for it is definitely that much harder to "support"...

applause

I do not advocate war...but i'm not a hypocrite either

umm yeah im with pucks on this one. if anyone had bombed Canada(which I doubt that they would have cause up to that point we kept our nose out of other peoples business and only interfered when they asked) i doubt that we would go just attack any old country like Iraq when the terreoists clearly were not linked to that country. they were for the Majourity in Afghanistan with Saudi backgrounds.

umm actually there is a canadian side of things. hence the difference between "CA FOURMS" and "int'l fourms"

You know what though?

Before Bush came along you guys didn't have all these issues. Obviously he is the problem and you guys are too blind to see it!

I am sorry you guys had the 9/11 and my heart breaks for those who died and those who lost a loved one but honestly had Bush kept his nose out of other countries business then surely this would have been preventable.

Maybe its time you guys need a new leader!

I think everyone is gatting too focused on individuals, Bush, Saddam, he's wrong no he's wrong, remember, neither of these men were acting alone, if not Bush, then some other chucklehead would have waged a war on Terror, I think everyone should consider, it's not the men, but the state of the world today, thats causing all this. And as far as the American goes, There is A Canadian View Lady, It's not something you could ever understand though, were just a little more civilized, a little more humane, and Lady our women are the most beautiful on earth!!!

Ideologies of the past, such as freedom from oppression, are still used as premises to go to war but, is the real reason not to support the American Military/Industrial complex?

The military and it's subcontractors employ a huge number of personnel, plant, materiel and equipment the likes of which have never been seen before. It truly is a superpower but what good is all that might without a premise for it's use?

Shortly after the collapse of Communism in Europe along comes this piss ant dictator in the Middle East that decides to invade his peaceful neighbour. Not only does the US and it's Coalition partners handily push back the dictator but the US Forces are given a golden opportunity to employ the radical new weapons in it's arsenal that have yet to be battle tested.

Maverick, Tomahawk and Patriot missiles, F-117 Stealth Fighters and countless innovations in all aspects of the military are not only used but are proven to work. So instead of scaling back the military/industrial complex a new threat is introduced that allows it to carry on unabated.

A decade later an attack upon the US prompts further support for the complex and it is allowed to press on regardless of cost in lives or money.

Forty years before, an outgoing Dwight D. Eisenhower warned in his farewell speech that the military should never be allowed to fall under the influence of corporations and business - sadly, it has.

War is no longer about ideologies - War is Big Business.

its about time the loser is dead. and they should kill all his cronies. glad bush is man enough to go in there and do the job. we should have been by his side when 911 happened. we will need the US when those murderers come here. Canada should have thought about that long ago.

The following figures are taken from the US Department of Defense Budget, Operations Program (OS-1), Fiscal Year 2005:

US Armed Forces Total Operation and Maintenance Title:

FY 2004 = $177,494,233,000.00

FY 2005 = $158,011,810,000.00

FY 2006 = $147,806,087,000.00

Now, most of us know that when a budget is prepared it is the end users job -in effect - to ensure that the budget is met, so as to ensure that the next year's will not be reduced.

With that in mind, is it not clear that the Corporations of Industry are really the ones with the power?

The end of the Cold War was a clear threat to this Industry but, as long as other threats are found - real or imagined - the machine will continue to thrive.

All defence contracts are issued by the govt. Who gets what and how much is up to the lobbyists and the power players in the US Congress and senate. Many contracts are given as no more than favours for future political love for other issues. Its the same game in Canada as well.

what about when they chopped off the heads of the hostages. is that civilized, hell if it was up to me i would have cut his moping moping off, then made him live a while. then cut out this tongue, let him live a while then cut out his eyes, then led him into the desert to fend for himself. no such thing as civil in war.

Bush is not a fool, he is an unfortunate puppet at the wrong time. Would that it were another president I'm sure the same would have happened. Go back and read what I posted above - this is more about keeping the war machine going than it is about terrorism or hostile threats from piss-ant dictators.

...and 600 hundred thousand? That equals 60,000,000 or sixty million...from a country with a population of 26,783,383...interesting math.
