Deedee123x: Glad to hear it DF!!

I agree we need something to both get up for and strive for....ive never been to London as an adult ... but i bet its a great place to live.
The fact you can have that little village in a place like that is great.

I'm still taken back by how London sprawls and the many places with in it where its like going to another country and you do feel you have been out, when you go out somewhere other than your residential neighborhood ...there is something in the air...you can feel the decadence and indulge in it, if only for a while.

I go past brick lane ever week to get to an evening class I go to (there is others dotted around the place too. A friend of mine raves about the delights at Dagenham market all the time!) We call Dagenham just 'nam (as in Vietnam - due to there being some similarities) laugh

Take a look at

We used to save up our pocket money to get a leather jacket from petty coat lane market - that was a rite of passage around these parts (at the time!) joy

There is still a market in East Ham and Upton Park (open pretty much all week) which I know of...Then there is Barking market which i think is open either a Thursday or a Thursday. I heard Hackney market got shut down due some "back of a lorry" stuff being sold there.

I think Rathbone market (Canning town) is going to get knocked down or has been for a new development

I went through Walthamstow Market to get somewhere...i was gobsmacked by how long its stretched and the richness of it. I hear its the largest market in Europe.

I used to go to Docklands market on Sunday by just following the posted signs for it...not sure if its still around or not, as I havnt seen any signs for it in a long while.

Around liverpool street/Algate/bricklane there are around four going on every Sunday but other days too possibly.

The new developments like "Westfield" is far too "plastic" and without a "heart" (and under or the fancy lights, there seems nothing worthy to buy) unlike a town with a good parade of local shops and markets (and of course Amazon can be used supplementary and to save on guess work, parking and leg work).wave

Could you be more specific. I wouldn't want to turn up on the wrong day.
