I would serve pot roast with horseradish, a light salad and a bottle of red wine. Instead of dessert, we would have black coffee with Grande Marnier served on the side in a warmed brandy snifter.
I know that you didn't ask me - however - I think mystery stew would be very good and wholesome. It would be full of vegetables and an assortment of meats, some of which would be wild in source. L.
(He just needs to add a bottle of cheap, but good, red wine).
Funny last night I was talking to our dear friend James (aka Tumpa) on the phone and we were talking about that. About what would we serve if we ever invited a friend over for dinner.
I always like to give people a choice ahead of time. Normaly I will think up of my best 3 all time favorite meals to cook and let them pick. And if they are not picky I will make what I feel like.
But for my date I would probably make something with pasta.
Like either a lasagna or Manicotti. Serve it with a nice salad and some rolls or garlic bread. Have some wine handy and for dessert either some chocolate cake or strawberries dipped in chocolate. Anything that you can feed to your date by hand
This is a delicious thread. I would like to go to some of your homes for a meal. It is interesting how different we are on what we would serve as a first meal for a date. For me, it has to be something that can mostly be ready before the date arrives (hence pot roast and a light salad). Let's hear about more great first date meals! L.

Hmmmmm I also love doing casseroles. One of my best and favorite casserole that my mom used to make and I make now is the "Brocolli/Cauliflower" casserole. Here is the recipe if anyone would like to try it. Really good!
Brocolli/Cauliflower Casserole
~Cooked brocolli cut up ~Cooked cauliflower cut up ~Cubed cooked chicken (optional) ~can of cream of mushroom ~can of cream of brocolli (I like to use cream of celery instead...adds a more tasteful flavor) ~half a can of water ~1 tbsp of Mayo (optional) ~Croutons ~Grated cheddar cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
In a mixing bowl add the cream of mushroom, cream of brocolli, half can of water, mayo and croutons and mix all together.
In a casserole dish layer with the cooked chicken cubes, cauliflower and brocolli. Then pour the mixture on top and sprinkle with the cheese.
Bake in the oven at about 350 for about 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Well with the woman I'm currently seeing I made spaghetti. I made the sauce using green and red pepper's, celery, mushrooms, onion, garlic and ground beef. I also served garlic toast with cheese and a nice ceasar salad. Well, she was amazed to say the least!
