It was suggested to me that I move to Florida and leave the West Coast behind. I have been there, "Florida" once but that was awhile ago and I am sure i barely saw or experienced but a small portion of it. I would buy a home there and do the same things I do here though maybe I would be exposed to some things or lifestyles that are new to me... I don't know. i like to play music so there is that. I have been a Hairstylist for decades so I would probably transfer my License and so on. I am not really planning on working too much but I think it can be good to stay busy. I think what I am looking for is the positive input from some people that have lived there for a long time and since it really is a big move, if i do this... and I have been looking at a lot of property and I am planning on visiting there in the near future so I can just get around and do what I can to imagine I am there and what place is good (or not) and that kind of stuff. I was thinking mid state and not on the East Beach but on the side that is on the inner coast that faces west. I imagine there is a name for all these things but I haven't learned them yet. cheers cool guitar

I moved to South Carolina 4 years ago from San Diego, where to weather is mild, to a place where it's freezing in the winter and very hot and humid in the summer, not to mention the stinging, biting and just down right annoying insects.
I have only been to Florida one time last year in May to pick up some furniture and what not. It took me less then an hour to load the truck and by then I was soaked head to toe with sweat, and that was at 10 a.m.
I would imagine it would be great there in the winter. Florida also has a very healthy insect population. South Carolina has only marginally better weather.
There's also a lot of people living there so there's a lot of traffic on the roads. And don't forget the occasional Hurricane. Here in S.C. we are often affected by Hurricanes and the associated power outages, which can last for day's to weeks. In the Summer it's not pleasant with out A/C.

Well, a rocky start but not a disaster. I have lived here in Portland Oregon over 50 years and it is a lot different even in the last 5-10 years. Plenty of things here I don't much care for, one being the rocketing property taxes and the huge increase in people flocking here from other places because a few years back one of our "people in charge" pretty much invited everyone that was without to get a tent or box and kick back and light up a "doobie" while you forget your worries. Now that might seen pretty great unless you are on the other side of the equation and your own quality of life and scenery, even safety plummets. No doubt that Portland will have some lessons learned while it reevaluates what it has become. But even without all that I have other reasons I won't go into that brings me to Florida. LA California would be the other but it is definitely 4 times the cost of what it is here or more. Florida has many places I can pick up for less than half of what I have now and instead of being 100 plus years old and kinda small for my tastes I can get into a newer home that is built better to withstand certain weather though some is going to get you either way... another reason I wanted to hear the positive side from some that live there now. I know there is in fact a very positive side to living in Florida and like all places it takes time to learn the ropes. I hope that some good replies come forward, thx
