Quick query really, I can’t speak for any majority here or elsewhere but I’ve come to a point in my life where I can no longer envision plans for the future.
Ie: have no agenda to work for a higher goal in life? Settled with what I have in life/ given up with any effort for a higher expectation.
Have certainly given up on ever having a meaning relationship again. (And I’ve resigned myself to that)

Is it possibly the ole midlife trauma that can effect us over 40s ? Or something more?

What plans have you got/ made or completed that you’ve always wanted to?
Or are you on the hamster wheel with me ?
laugh

A few years ago I had a big health scare thankfully it turned out to be something less serious but it gave me the kick I needed I had a bucket list of things I wanted to do and over the last few years I’ve almost completed it
I have loads of plans and not quiet ready for my slippers yet

Relationship wise who knows yes I would like to meet someone and have children but if it doesn’t happen I’ll be grand as I have other plans to keep me busy cheering

Over 40? Lots of time to plan ahead.

Since turning 60 I've. ..

Spent time in Uganda including 27k of grade 5 white water rafting on the Nile.
Travelled around Goa and Karnataka in India.
Did a road trip from San Francisco to the tip of Baja, camping on remote beaches by t Sea of Cortez and back to SF.
Travelled around Panama staying in huts by both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Spent most of 2017 and 2018 doing volunteer work in mainland Europe and the uk.

All of that was done on a very small budget, rough and ready.

So, start making plans,

YOLO, as they say.

peace

In reality, this is a time for you to prosper, when 90% of the population is depressed over COVID19 regardless of your own personal situation, this is the moment when you sit down by getting rid of all the negatives and lay down "ONE" solid plan to change your life whether it's attached to love, employment, living conditions, physical fitness, or whatever. Start off slow and just have "ONE" significant motivator as I stated. I'm still amazed of how some here have been online for 10 years... just wondering if the majority got better or worse? Don't count on anyone... just yourself. Pretty bad time to start a business while many shops go bankrupt for example... yet great time to begin an online enterprise and judge which one to pick based on the mood of the nation. Be ahead of the came and don't let the barriers in your way stop you. Whatever you do it has to help YOU or the individuals you wish to assist. If you wait... you soon will be dead without trying with regrets.

Just my opinion. wave

Spot on!
I studied psychology and would give this advice to anyone who’s struggling with their future ( so to speak)
When you focus on too many things at once it can become overwhelming and the mind has a shut down mode.

It’s so hard to practice what I may preach laugh

I understand, there is a lockdown mode now where even logic locks down due to depression, stress, uncertainty, fear and sometimes even being overworked. Doctors and truckers seem to have it bad... people depend on them and when things go wrong they are the first to be blamed like many professions.

I waited till retirement and took myself off to Spain for 7 years. I raised monies for a large dog shelter in La Linea holding outdoor markets and raffles .I also raised money for a children's charity by holding a Treasure Hunt and raffle . It was great fun. Now I raise money for our local Donkey Sanctuary by having coffee mornings etc.

Your love of rescue dogs is commendable so do you know anyone that would help you to run a Dog rescue centre.?

Never give up your expectations and keep that motivation moving. Spend time really thinking about your future and what YOU want from life .You're a survivor and raising a child with autism is a gift in itself so be proud of what you have achieved so far. I worked with children with learning difficulties and the rewards far outway the downsides.

It's amazing just what you can do with the right mindset so you go girl.cheering

GeneralBeacon: Actually, it's amazing what some pet shops here had to do to sanitize their clinics... almost like an ICU in a hospital. One clinic had a small Triage section outside the main entrance to assess dogs and cats before entry and had to know where to isolate them if they have symptoms. All the staff was wearing masks and visors. Some cats have caught something similar to COVID19 and yet not as potent. Most of the sicker animals are from Red zones and I'm sure many strays are being put down because of the increased amount. When a squirrel catches it the whole bush can be infected and it's not normal to see these creatures sneezing. Minute amounts in percentages and yet now even Bubonic infections are being found.
Well aware, have had to send two dogs into a local vet alone over the last 2 months, and that was for serious issues. They won’t see a animal unless.

And rightly so, it hasn’t been dismissed that animals carry the virus. And Rescue as a whole have had to shut down due to not being able to allow home checks or animals to be visited.
It’s been very dire for everyone.
