It seems to me that age, ethnicity, culture, even education makes no difference for those that are macho men. Are they born this way? Do they learn to behave like this? Or, is it just a facade/game? Can we live with them? Are we better off without them? Is it futile to re-educate them to be more "normal"? Opinions, anecdotes, and ideas are all welcome.

Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, George Bush...are all perfect examples of the typical male bravado that I'm referring to. They are like live cartoon characters trying to prove their maleness and importance....
Err, I'd have to say that the barbarians are more masculine. I don't think Africans are plagued by being indecisive and worried what others think like those from educated democracy. Affluence, democracy, education, technology - all of these things make men more like women.
But then macho is sometimes a product of the above. You might call it lad culture. Why do young men in the west jump off the roof for a laugh? Because they've never been to war. Never been to war or engaged in any kind of struggle for existence.

II gotcha, Personally I like Clint Eastwood of the"come on punk make my day" fame.
But some people think the macho man is good in times of war, when attributes of macho are looked on with favour, when blowing the enemies head off is an admirable thing. Men become legends and heroes. Or would you put such men back in their boxes and take up knitting, it is indeed a conundrum.

The beauty and the balance you speak of makes for truly romantic tales for two that are probably never told. They are private and special for those of us who are lucky, and smart.
