Grandsiozzie: I tried to ask somebody on here if Brexit worked, but never got no answer. I suppose they don't know. I think it had zero impact when it comes to stopping the illegals. None. Maybe it was designed only to slow the legal ones but we all know those are a handfull only compared to the masses, just ask Italy. It's like with strickter gun laws in america to try halt gang related killings. Has no effect .
bodleing2: Given that many of the illegal immigrants are from outside Europe, Brexit has made no difference to them. It's a pity that many of those who voted leave didn't comprehend that.
Absolutely Bod. It was more about taking control of our own laws and money.
sdarlagg: Funny thing, when I first thought of buying property in Amalfi Italy, just after obtaining my citizenship there by right of blood, the first thing I needed to establish was my income source and sustainability of it to prove I would not be a burden on the establishments there.
I'd think twice if I were you.
Outrage in Italy after hundreds give fascist salute at a rally in Rome
Doesn't get it? the disease of stupidity? Well I've been inocculated with a dose of common sense, something glaringly lacking in your one clause throwaways. What I do get, in spades, is that the path of this century's America is errant and to be avoided. When a measure of sense will return, who can say. You seem to like to dispense witless jibes Herr Konrad, but never have I seen you say anything of substance or relevance - just the feeble ad hominem attacks. Best you have to offer is it? How about something on topic?

Thanks, I decided not to buy property there before the previous decade. The point I was trying to make was, and is, at that one time most countries cared about whether just one new single immigrant potentially would be a burden on their society if the new immigrant lives there permanently.
FargoFan: @op does following the USA lead include choosing an inept lying hypocritical ignoramus to lead them, potentially twice even. Brings that expression 'fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me' doesn't it.

it is interesting the way you are constantly are putting down the USofA,while your Country is slowly sinking into a morass of Totalitarianism!

Immigration is the foundation of America. No other nation has as large an immigrant population as does the United States.
Isn't the Trump family based on immigrants from Germany, and indeed employed many illegal immigrants.
Legal migration between countries has been going on for centuries but of late due to wars etc..has gotten out of hand.

Yep illegal immigration is definitely out of hand and purposely the ruin of the USA.we could never find enough money to house and feed our unfortunate homeless and veterans but we sure went into trillions of u.s. dollars in further debt to take care of illegal immigrants.
All four of my grandparents immigrated legally to this country from Italy and Sicily. They worked hard for what they had and received no freebies or comfort from anyone else: that’s right, no food, no free transportation, no free health care, no free lodging, no free meals, no free telephones etc.
Illegal immigrants arriving here get all that free plus they want us to learn their languages.

Not strictly speaking true ,as the U.S national debt is not entirely due to immigrants is it.
Are you aware that President Donald Trump is the second-largest contributor to the debt dollar-wise. He added $7.8 trillion to the debt. This was a 39% increase.
Congress knows a debt crisis isn’t far away. In less than 20 years, the Social Security Trust Fund won't have enough to cover the retirement benefits promised to people born from 1946 to 1964.That could mean higher taxes once the high U.S. debt rules out further loans from other countries. That could in turn affect pensioners such as yourself.
Covid also cost your country dearly as it did the U.K. The total cost is estimated at more than $16 trillion, or roughly 90% of annual GDP of the United States.
Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan also contributed to high federal costs.
sdarlagg: This thread is about the current u.s. situation.
And is not the current US situation dominated by the speculation as to whether that same imbecile will be selected to stand, and possibly be re-elected as president? What is more current than that?
Conrad73: while your Country is slowly sinking into a morass of Totalitarianism!
Utter nonsense. Do you actually have any idea what you are talking about? The previous government did somewhat shadow the US push in that direction, and several EU countries demonstrate such tendencies. Curb your ignorance. On topic: It is to be hoped the American polarisation will moderate and commonsense emerge come November 2024. But who in their right mind thinks America has been in its right mind these last 8 years? The America of the 21st century is a country none should follow the lead of.

No and You are simply off topic. Surely you can find many hate Trump forum threads and blogs to vent your hate for him.

So not all down to illegal immigrants is it.
I never said our national debt is entirely due to illegal immigrants. Btw, I don’t receive social security pension benefits. How can the u.s. government find money for millions of illegal immigrants recently invited to be here and run out of money to a non entitlement like social security, and not have money to care for our own homeless and hungry out of work citizens and veterans.

So are you saying that although you are retired you don't receive a pension?????? That is what I was referring to not benefit claims.
When did the U.S "invite" illegal immigrants to America
"Despite the rhetoric surrounding illegal immigration and the Mexican border by the Trump administration, most illegal immigrants living in the U.S are not those who have crossed the border illegally. The vast majority of undocumented immigrants in the U.S are people who have overstayed their visas.
Estimates also suggest that the undocumented population in the US has actually declined since 2005 when it stood at an estimated 12.2 million. The decline in the unauthorized immigrant population is largely due to the decreasing numbers from Mexico, which is estimated to have dropped by 2 million between 2007 and 2017. There has, however, been an increasing number of undocumented migrants arriving from Central America and Asia."

What is your take on the above statement?
I never paid enough into the ponzi scheme intended to be only a supplement that they call social security. Social security is not an entitlement because workers paid into it during their work history.
I receive a meager pension from state government for time employed there combined with work credits for my military service and time working in the Fed gov employment.
O.P, do you think Europeans in general knows more about illegal crossings at the southern border than you who has the shoe on? An old friend of mine is urging me to ask (wants to know).
For what I can read here there is no problem. Is that true? (sorry but my freind is very curious.. )
On a side not: who invited the J6 protesters into the congress building, and was it in writing?
Aha, thanks. So if all the left leaning kind hearted ones get their way plenty illegals pour in to a better life that they most definetly deserves as we started all them wars. Could we call that a modern Robin Hood policy on a world wide scale? These lefties are very kind aren't they? Want a better life for them poor ones around the world- I mean they do deserve a place at the table too right.
So... let's say all the Afgahnians came here, will there be empty space there we can buy so we can Build Back Better? Can for instance California be sold to them in change of 2/3 of their land maybe. California is approximately 403,882 sq km, while Afghanistan is approximately 652,230 sq km. Parhaps that is a fair trade.

Please forgive the intrusion in your comment to the O.P. but I assume that you include yourself in that statement Grand ,being from Norway which is Northern Europe.
Why does your "old friend" not ask for himself. Anyone with any interest can read much on other people's history if they want to increase their knowledge and even learn from the O.P. also, as galrads has enlightened me on Retirement pensions in the U.S.
Why have you dragged in J6 yet again when the thread is about illegal immigrants.
