we are movin... it just seems to get worse and worse we will hike into a region we are told is riddled with wounded and we are out of supplies again, something must have happened yesterday because we had hardly any communication coming in and rumors were rumbling around the camp...still no idea what happened , maybe political...lots of indignation here about the way the whole thing is being handeled.
i am waaay better still hurts to move my left arm up but that's normal for this injury. i don't know what it will be like and i don't know when i will get back online soooooo alll of you !!XXXXXXXXXXXXXX and thanks phyllis and adj4u!!

we have been walking/hiking into the deeper valleys and they are populated by hundreds u wouldnt believe how many people are dwelling up here in the most remote cut off places on the planet thousands still injured and gangrene amputations seem to be the call of the hour by hour by hour... it does not end.

we bury more dead than treat now oooo ok maybe its about equal 50/50

but its bad. we were lost for a day! that was exciting!
rumours of bandits and kidnapping ... the last team from MSF assigned to Pakistan were killed some years ago (6 people or 4 cant remember)so the 2 main teams that live here had to move into the cities for safety....

but we are hiking further

Things go the way I think in court today, you will feel my freedom from way over there...lol. Might even get a burst of energy. Hmmm, curious to find out.

What a week it has been! Can I go to court too? I've got the divorce forms to file pro se. Just need to fill them out and take them to the clerk of the court. I'm hoping that he/she will tell me if I have made any mistakes on them.

This divorce thing is a lot of work but it's going to be worth it to get closure!!

Wow I have been following this thread after noticing Alexandra's posts and, well, thinking about what is must be like there in the Hindu Kush. I love the mountains so much, and have done a fair amount of wilderness backpacking and skiing way back in the boonies, but that is a whole different ball 'o wax from being in the third world where the order of the day is gangreneous amputations and death, death, much of which would have been preventable in less remote situations. The people are up against it in ways we here in the affluent west cannot even imagine. We are so fortunate, and we think we suffer sometimes, but no way is it anything like what goes on in remote, poor areas where big natural disasters strike. Katrina is the closest thing we see to it, and it is of course really bad, and we have 3rd worlds right here in the USA. Out here where I live it is on the Indian reservations.

Alex, keep your reports and your thoughts coming when you can, I am soaking them up. I have thought many times about volunteering for such work, and indeed have my name on a list or two as "available" (with ACDI-VOCA) but I am not a medical person, and my skills are better suited to rebuilding and recovery, not disaster relief. Hang in there Alex and remember you cannot help anyone if you yourself become injured or hurt (more than you already apparently are.) You all in this thread seem to be good loving people!

I agree with Jack. Hopefully you are settled in somewhere now and are staying away from lorries and ravines :)

I bet many of us would like to be able to be out there with you or helping others in some capacity.
