Beating
Heart still beating for the cause
Feeding
Soul still feeding from the loss
Aching
Limbs are aching from the rush
Fading
You are fading from my sight
Break of morning, coldness lingers on
Shroud me into nightmares of the sun
Moving
I am moving closer to your side
Luring
You are luring me into the night
Crying
Who is crying for you here
Dying
I am dying fast inside your tears

Plunging towards bereavement faster yet
Clearing thoughts, my mind is set

Devious movements in your eyes
Moved me from relief
Breath comes out white clouds with your lies
And filters through me
You're close to the final word
You're staring right past me in dismay
A liquid seeps from your chest
And drains me away
Mist ripples round your thin white neck
And draws me a line
Cold fingers mark this dying wreck
This moment is mine
Help me cure you
Atone for all you've done
Help me leave you
As all the days are gone
Night fall again
Taking what's left of me
Slight twist, shivering corpse
Ornated with water, fills the cracks
Clasped in my lims by tradition
This is all you need

My son is using this song as an interpretation of the poem by Keats,
Ode to a Nightingale. It's a depressing poem...

I am helping him with this project.

I'm impressed at what he wrote, it is how that song and its lyrics are similar to the "Ode to the Nightingale" poem by Keats...

Song Lyric Analysis

Opeth’s “Bleak” is a song that deals with the writer’s state of extreme melancholy, with the music being as significant to this theme as the lyrics themselves. The song uses musical elements such as dissonance (harsh harmony), rhythm/tempo changes, and various dynamics. An instance of these dynamics changes includes the alternating between abrasive growling and clean vocals, along with heavy, distorted guitar resonance switching with a clean sound. This song seems to parallel the reflection of what Keats was feeling. Even using a lot of the same words, such as “aching”, “drains” as well as the same ideas. Death and crying are brought up as emotions entangled with the writer’s being.

The atmosphere within the song is dismal and dark, but the reasons are formless, just as in Ode to a Nightingale. The rhyming patterns in both the song and poem are similar in that they are not uniform, the harmony changes throughout. Vocal styles alternate within the song, and the moods change within the poem. Though both writers were in a state of despair, “Bleak” and Ode to a Nightingale end neither positive nor negative. Rather, they both seem to conclude in an uncertain, dreamlike state. In “Bleak”, this ending is mutual with the lyrics and the music. Both works end with this uncertainty of the future, and seem to be more fixated on the present than anything else.

Opeth. “Bleak”. Blackwater Park. Zomba music Ltd, 12 March 2001.

woooo hoooo

No, he typed it up and turned it in today for his English assignment. He could play it if he wanted to (the song I posted earlier)

If he ever does go on stage, I'll be sure to let you know and get you a ticket! He is still trying to find dedicated guys to play.

He had to return that tube/solid state amp to Guitar Center, the reverb didn't work, but they are going to call so he can pick up a new one.

He still wants a set of drums sometime soon.

Not familiar with it but write, read and love poetry&lyrics with meaning.Look back in history, many artists in painting and poetry were depressed people or had torment in life.Think it has to do with all that talent and mind wanting 2 express what the felt and trying to express itconfused .Sadly artistic people many times suffer in life & that is where many get there inspiration from. Not all.Did u know Van Gogh suffered from mental illness& didn't sell a painting till after he died?Just an interesting story if u ever want to read up on him,and haven't already. As for your son from my writing&reading experience he's got talent please encourage him to keep it upyay thumbs up

Susie, sorry I didn't express the part about your son correctly(something I do at times when my mind is tired).I meant talent in that he picked the lyrics at his age,and about his interest in pursuing music. Not getting it exactly right again,so I'll stop here on the subject.Did read the forum before 1st post and as far as reconizing it not at all.But years ago read some Keats liked it some, not enough to stick with me.I love Emerson.peace thumbs down on my posts on this thead.doh
