What do you all think? I think it's way long over due to pull our boys out and let those people exterminate themselves...but that's just me.

no, it was worth a shot. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. We tried, and that's all you can say.

Lead a horse to water...

Take the reins and walk to the water the horse will follow.

Use a stick to beat the horse to water it will not drink as long as you are there with your stick.

yep, guess I don't really have a dog in this race, I just hate that it seems that we are making no progress over there. I know I wouldn't want to see my son give his life to help people that won't accept the help.

I agree we should stay.

to defend the democracy WE helped build.

But we must remember the goals as stated by our government.

If Iraq has become a great democracy. With all of its freedoms and responsibilities. Let them VOTE on it....

AND ABIDE BY THEIR DECISION.

and help them take the reins.

so that another eagle may fly and set an example for the world that WE as a nation follow our speach with action that backs up the truths we hold dear.

When I served in the military I did so because I agreed as my primary goal to defend the constititution of the united states of america.

The consitititution...

not the government.

What does it matter it was in the past. (LK)

The facts are... pandoras box was opened in WWII. We are seeing the reapercussions (diliberate misspelling) of that now. WE NEED A WORLD AT PEACE.

Or we will cease to exist.

AS A Viable SPECIES.

I can't believe that you, of all people would say that, AB..

What democracy..You were talking about a stick and a horse and a drink of water..

Who has the freakin stick..Who asked for a drink (democracy)and who will not leave that poor nation alone??

I am disappionted, my friend..I expected better from you..

Then you understood me other post.

Should I put it another way?

They will not drink the true draft of democracy untill we are no longer the stick.

I submit a prayer that they are ready.

and my voice to remove our troops by the voice of the people of Irag.

Let them decide.

If they ask us to stay then we must stand beside them.

We got ourselves into this as a nation.

I am not pilat. I can not wash my hands while secretly gloating over the profits I will make selling tickets to the spectacle of the ages.

WE are responsible for spilling blood. WE...

THE PEOPLE.

I may have misunderstood, AB..And, if I did, I truely apologise..

But, I say to you..

They will never drink the 'draft of democracy" until they want to, and are ready to. No amount of force or coersion is justified..

Democracy is not something that you force on a nation..Whether they choose to live democratically, is up to them..Not to any one else..

It makes them no less human, and it makes those who would FORCE them to be other than what they want to be.. (these stick, spear, bomb bearers) less human..

Agreed. I like your point.

mine is that it has allready happend. lets move on and do what needs to be done NOW.

The bridge is still there. Water that has moved past it will not effect it.

Iraq has happened.

Let us find a way WITH THEM to still the raging beast.

I want my grandson to be part of the first generation to be raised with out needing to spill blood in a war.

is that to much to ask?
