If you had to pick one would you rather have a very sporty or a very intelligent child?
I have thought about this and have decided on the sports for various reasons....

Intelligence, but the two can go hand in hand sometimes can't they? No wait, I've just listened to a tv interview with David Beckham so perhaps not!

I have a very sporty child but has never done well at school and i have suffered alot and still have problems.I would have prefered an intelligent child. In sport only the very few and lucky can go ahead and benefit from sports.

I think Beckham took too many shots to the head. Listening to him is like eating pea-soup with a fork.

Having said that I do think that a child can be sporty AND intelligent. It is not impossible.

The problem as I see it is that if the child is Sporty, then to succeed at it enough to provide a good income, they would have to be Very Very Good at that Sport in fact top class.

Whereas, with Academic cleverness, to gain high marks to qualify for further education is not as difficult or as competitive. Even if the kid is not a Supremo Intelligentsia he/she can eventually land a good job.

I have a relative who is a top sportsman, made mega-bucks, and all I can say is.... Thank God he is good at what he does... cause there aint anything else he can do! He can ONLY play THAT ONE GAME.... the rest of the time is duh..doh Also, lucky he had a clever Mama who guided him to his goal.dancing
