Should people make the effort?

I vote yes, emphatically. It doesn't have to be perfect (god knows, it usually isn't) but it adds meaning and clarity to the sentence.

Sire it doth seem to mine eyes that thy opinion is in error. T’is the wholesome mix that doth increase our joy in these conversations.

Yes Sire, but written in decipherable good English.
I never said that we should not all contribute, from wherever country we came, I only said that preferably, contributions should be in correct English, facilitating the task of the other readers to comprehend what is written.

I really, really don't mind that much.

Consideriing that I've seen some bad spelling by both English and American posters on other forums, I'm not going to start a crusade against European posters if they make grammatical errors - erm ,once in a while.

Look, I'm not talking about articles for The Times here, it's just that an effort is appreciated. I'm a native English speaker, and am used to hearing the language mangled in dozens of different ways, but as long as a person is speaking (or writing) to the best of their ability (or close enough, anyway), I'll be perfectly happy.

I agree, everyone should try their best and not do a slapdash lousy job at hitting the keys. ESPECIALLY those who are native speakers!

On this note I had several communications, with a member here about 6 months ago.

His profile was an eye sore(excuse the expression)to read. Trying to help him, I suggested some commas, and ran his text through the spell check.
To NO avail.

Then I tried selling him the psychological angle. Like, how can you expect to meet someone here if you dont advertise yourself in an attractive way.

Your profile represents YOU.

Do you want Ladies to feel you are as poor a lover as you are a writer?

This is like an English movie on dvd saying English Language with English subtitles....uh??? I can understand if it was an American movie with English subtitles or even visa versa!
Reistere irritum est. Praeparate vos ad translationem in modum subiunctivum!
( Resistance is futile. Prepare to be assimilated into the subjunctive!)
Didn't you know that "Men are from Troy, Women are from Greece" ( a book by Virgil....%D

Hardly a good morning. But anyway, good morning to you.

I'm at work now, so I had better do something constructive.

Hey Wed, well I wasn't referring just to you, but I'd be lying if I said that you hadn't popped into my head laugh .
Have you considered getting a keyboard that you can just plug into your laptop? If it's really old and doesn't have USB ports, you'd need one with a PS/2 connection. Either way, you can get them for about €15.

Ah, no.

One of my many vices is that I do not like repeating myself. So Wed, please read this very carefully:

I stood up for you when you were getting insulted, BUT I will also stand against you when you insult others.

Crystal?
