My query to all those who wish to share is.....

why do we complicate our life so much? Often life is very simple yet we manage to question everything and everyone. Is it pride/ambition/insecurity/other?

I will never give up on simplicity but i find it's easier said than done.

confused

Tell a person that there are a billion stars in the sky and he will believe you. Tell the same person that the bench has wet paint and they will touch it with their finger to make sure.

We are humans - obviously if life had been intended for us to be simpler it would have been.

Yeah, thats what makes us Humans..... when my dog travelled with me she just had her collar/Leash/Food bowl.... like a Budhist Holy man, Me I had a suitcase of things plus another over my shoulder with more "things".....

I do believe that the gathering of material possesions is "security" phobia?
more than the other things mentioned.... the pride, ambition side. Pride could also find a niche though.... Like wanting shiny New Things as opposed to old Comfortable Things.

Also, maybe, we must get our heads around the Marketing Moguls who Tell us What We Need?

To understand the universe we ask questions. Children start asking why most grow out of it the rest become physicists.

Why do you ask? grin

That is why you should never eat ice-cream.

It is good to have an inquisitive mind, perhaps not take every single thing at face value, perhaps not be too trusting.

Is there a difference between having an inquisitive mind, a thirst for knowledge and being plain damned too curious for your own good?

As a mathematician and a scientist I know I must prove every thing before I can believe it.

i agree..... but ice cream can look tempting so sometimes its a trial and error thing, we need to experience something to know the difference.

Hey hey hey, hold on a second.

What do people do to complicate their lives a lot, even beyond their expectations?

You know what?....They get married.

As single people, they have only themselves to take care of, only their needs to accomodate, their wishes to come true, their ambitions to achieve.
Then they get married. Now they have to accomodate another person's wishes and all else. They have to change their lifestyles, the way they spend their time and money, and if that was,not enough, they also have to bear the huge responsibility of rearing up their children.

Are these not all useless complications? Whoever needed children to have a life that's full of satisfaction or achievements? who said that one has to get married to have fun and satisfaction? whoever said that people have to be conventional and follow the tracks that our parents and grand parents have been following for the last 20,000 years?

We complicate our life, because we always want to experience first hand what other people tell us to stay well clear from. It is useless that we see failed marriages all around us. We have to try to see if our marriage would fail too. And those who have had these, know a thing or two about the complications. I for one, was one of the luckier ones, who suffered to keep my marriage going, but did not go through the pains of a failed one.
