If you're uncomfortable giving out your primary email, just go to yahoo or hotmail and create one specifically for correspondence with people here.

I would avise to wait till you have talked to them enough to see what you think. If they don't give you signs of lying, or any thing that might cause you issues, then you might, as you can block them. Until that time you can use the e-mail on the site to talk to them.
