Been here for a while

And found this place to be a liberal hang out. Not that I mind a good debate, but few libs can actually debate, bashing and fact finding without the facts are more their style.
So I am off from here. Have fun all.

cheers

RE: We share a border, but that's about it.

You know I fiond that offesive. In fact on that same level I could say that it is the brain dead that oppopse his ideas and follow the Demcratic parfty. Would you like that?
Your pompous attitude is really quite annoying.

RE: what do you like about America?

So very true.
As long as we remember that any Government is made of people, then we can understand no government can be perfect. The US has come as close as anyone has, even though there are manmy very good governments out there, and each with their good any bad issues, as none are immune to that.

RE: Would you date a Muslim?

It would depend on the person. I know many that come here hate this country, and seen a lot of that myself. But there are a many that come here that are some very good people. I know some of them as well and they are friends.
I have gone out with one very beautiful woman from Jordan, and we had a nice time talking. Not really a date, just friends out talking.

RE: Rain...

I do hope you get some here soon. Been in some bad droughts before and know how they can be a major pain.
I know that here, it is just the opposet in that every time we get rain now, it floods. The fear here, is that we will get another bad rain like in the beginning of this. The ground is so saturated that another bad rain could bring major flooding like Texas is having. Some areas around here have already, with a few deaths, and a lot of damage.
Yesterday's rain had over an inch (2.54 CM) of water over all the streets flooding. We're under a flashflood watch until friday here due to all the rain that has come, and the rain predicted to come.

RE: Rain...

We've been getting it alm,ost every day for the past three months... Past the yearly average almost a month ago.

Never had a woman buy me anything, I always did the buying.

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

I don't think fact or not is the issue, but how much Man has changed it to fit his needs. I mean here, when I read the Latin and Greek versions, there were so many changes in the King James version, that it leaves one to wonder, how many other changes there was between then and now.
I have a friend, that is a Methoidist Minister, and he often says not to take the word as written, but as your heart says. He will refer to the changes as well, and that the amount of changes are beyond knowing now.

Just more food for thought.

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

But in here is the issue. The generations at that time were not as we count them today, and this person di, but from birth to death. And according to the bible, they lved such long times and some as long as 600 years? So that would alter the math, wouldn't it?

RE: What should I do for my Birthday?

Hey you have some beautiful woods and mountains around there. A nice walk to spend time with nature, what a better way?
That will rejuvinate your soul!

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

I have an Aunt that does a full blown birthday party on Christmas. Cake, song the whole nine yards.

RE: Kiss or Pass Game

THe only thing I had the experience of, was being told I was a Dirty American. This was by my Lt. in the CAP who was a French woman and disliked this country and people.
But like I said earlier, I refuse to let myself believe all are that way, Exocentrism (sp) is a disease I refuse to take part of.

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

Then I appologize. I know people that do as I said, and mistook the statements as such. Being that I do not celebrate the holiday, not being Christian, I just look at a different view of it (and not trying to insult the religious value).

RE: Kiss or Pass Game

Étant celui je n'ai jamais embrassé une femme française, serais intéressant pour voir comme ce qu'était il. Et sans compter qu'elle n'a jamais semblé grossière, de sorte que des marques il beaucoup plus facile.

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

My point was just that both could be done, as my cousins and brother do, and still have a good time. I just think that calling it a lie, is degrading to the memory of the people this was carried over from.
If you don't want to use the Santa issue that is no big deal. It is just calling it in such a fashion that insults the people from our collective past.

RE: Going to Heaven or staying here ?

The sad thing is calling the Santa Claus issue a lie denouces the people that this came from who did so much on the day that would later be called Christmas. As far as I can tell, at least 12 countries had a person that is the basis for the Santa Clause story, and always gave gifts to people on Christmas day, or what would become christmas day (some were before Christmas, and some after it).
But the act of giving gifts goes back to the real day that Christmas came from, as the holiday is in the wrong time of the year. Christmas is a pagan day of Winter Solstice, and in many that celibrated the day, it was a day for giving gifts to loved ones and friends. When Christmas took over the solstice holiday, they did nothing, really. A few people in different countries took the Pagan ritual, and modified it to help needy kids and families, by leaving gifts the night before on their doorstep. The story later became changed over time and many evolutions, to the little fat man we all know now, and is likely a mix of many of the people that actually did the gift giving.
So if your going to punish your kids this way, then why even celibrate the day, when it is not even in the right month? Santa Clause is a rememberance of the selflish efforts of a few to help as many poor people in the past as they could on this day. So why degrade their actions?

RE: I was watching signs last time do you think there really are aliens?

I think Carl Sagan said it best.

"There are some hundred billion (1011) galaxies, each with, on the average, a hundred billion stars. In all the galaxies, there are perhaps as many planets as stars, 1011 x 1011 = 1022, ten billion trillion. In the face of such overpowering numbers, what is the likelihood that only one ordinary star, the Sun, is accompanied by an inhabited planet? Why should we, tucked away in some forgotten corner of the Cosmos, be so fortunate? To me, it seems far more likely that the universe is
brimming over with life. But we humans do not yet know. We are just beginning our explorations. The only planet we are sure is inhabited is a tiny speck of rock and metal, shining feebly by reflected sunlight, and at this distance utterly lost."

No I do not believe that there are aliens coming here, but the posibility that there are some out there, that is posible.

RE: your favorite person ever from history

Timmigen, Ghangus Kahn.

This was a person that you just simply did not mess with. When the midde east killed his merchants, he did not play about it, not just beat the offending countrries imto submission, he took over the countries, and then killed all their politicians, then put his own government in.
Not only that, but when he outlined the laws for his land, they were in many ways more advanced than any other country, and still used in designing laws today in most countries. His military tactics are still used today as well.
Timmigen had more understandings of political issues, social issues, and military warfare than most of his counter parts. Much of what he did between 1245-1275 still has effects on many issues in society today, and that is saying a lot.

Things to ponder

Hey I agree with that. You can look at the item you're cooking and see that, or if you doubt your eyes cut it open and see it. But the industry still claims that it cooks from the inside out.
I wonder, isn't this false advertising?
