There is quite an evangelical movement afoot re: The Rapture. The belief is that the world will suddenly end and those who have Jesus in their hearts will be elevated to heaven. Those who have passed away first, then the rest. If this comes to pass, I hope that I'm not hungover at that moment. Is there aspirin in heaven ? Pizza and other carbohydrates that one craves the morning after ?
This belief has become big business. There are companies that advertise to take care of your pets, post Rapture. ( I'm serious )
I'm sure that there are some here that believe in this. I do not mean to offend. Just way too many interpretations of the Bible to suit me.
This teaching started in the 1st century by early following Christians. More Churches are now promoting this because of the events of this day. And using Scriptures as these two below..
1Cr 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
I am going to heaven and believe from the bibical signs that it will be soon. There r many different interpertations of the bible. But when u study the whole Bible it does not contradict itself, and it says what it says. No matter what people choose to believe.I am not offended,And ur right a lot of people have made big business of it.But in the end it doesnt matter what other people do.You alone will stand for what and who ur on this earth.
Isn't is funny as a matter of fact that both Holiday's that represents Christ' Birth and resurrection we have characters to tell our children about other then the real truth on why we celebrate those Holidays?
As a matter of fact I never taught my kids that there was a real santa or easter bunny. And they werent warped by it and had as much fun at christmas and easter as the rest of the kids.
SO do I keith, So do I.We teach our kids its wrong to lie and then we lie to them about a santa and a easter bunny? wonder what goes through the kids mind when they find out there isnt one?
The sad thing is calling the Santa Claus issue a lie denouces the people that this came from who did so much on the day that would later be called Christmas. As far as I can tell, at least 12 countries had a person that is the basis for the Santa Clause story, and always gave gifts to people on Christmas day, or what would become christmas day (some were before Christmas, and some after it). But the act of giving gifts goes back to the real day that Christmas came from, as the holiday is in the wrong time of the year. Christmas is a pagan day of Winter Solstice, and in many that celibrated the day, it was a day for giving gifts to loved ones and friends. When Christmas took over the solstice holiday, they did nothing, really. A few people in different countries took the Pagan ritual, and modified it to help needy kids and families, by leaving gifts the night before on their doorstep. The story later became changed over time and many evolutions, to the little fat man we all know now, and is likely a mix of many of the people that actually did the gift giving. So if your going to punish your kids this way, then why even celibrate the day, when it is not even in the right month? Santa Clause is a rememberance of the selflish efforts of a few to help as many poor people in the past as they could on this day. So why degrade their actions?
